Directions

HOW LONG DOES THE BUS TRANSFER TAKE FROM THE CAR PARK TO BURG FRANKENSTEIN?

About ten minutes.

THERE ARE SO MANY CARS UP ON THE CASTLE CAR PARK. AN I ALLOWED TO DRIVE UP IN THE CAR?

No, those vehicles belong to the people who organise and design the Halloween festival: 99 scary creatures on the castle premises, … performers on stage, 5x props/cloakroom, make-up, technology, security service, car park service and barriers, kitchen, service, outdoor catering, cleaning. A total of about 150 people. As well as the ASB and the fire brigade with their service vehicles.

IS THE FESTIVAL SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Only in family Sundays for children from six years of age accompanied by their parents or other authorised adults (e.g. children’s birthday party).

You can independently decide what is good for your children. Burg Frankenstein is great fun for bright kids who can tell the difference between reality and games. On these Sundays, the normal show program will, of course, not be shown from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., but special performances tailored to our youngest visitors.

The ghost festival is only suitable to a limited extent at all other times (see question no. 10).

Section 2 Protection of young persons in the public

  • 4 Restaurants

(1) Children and adolescents below the age of 16 years shall not be present in a restaurant unless they are accompanied by a custodial person or a person with parental power or for one meal or drink between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. Adolescents as of the age of 16 years shall not be present in a restaurant between midnight and 5 a.m. unless they are accompanied by a custodial person or a person with parental power.

In plain terms, this means when visiting the Halloween festival:

Children under 14 years of age if not accompanied by a custodial person until midnight

No access for adolescents under 16 years of age if not accompanied by a custodial person

Adolescents under 16 years of age accompanied by a custodial person until midnight

Adolescents above 16 years of age not accompanied by a custodial person until midnight

However, we would like to point out that the evening program is not suitable for children under 14 years of age. Therefore, children under 14 years of age do not have access to the monster area.

We recommend the family Sundays for our younger guests.

Here, as twilight falls, the scare factor is substantial to sufficient, even for the older children.

The event is not suitable for children who have no experience with monsters and witches and who have not been appropriately enlightened by their parents. Please always take the fears of your children seriously and discuss them accordingly.

DO CHILDREN PAY THE ENTRANCE FEE?

Yes, children also pay an entrance fee.

CHILD MINDING? MISSING CHILDREN!

Lost children will be minded by the friendly helpers of the ASB Darmstadt- Eberstadt until they are picked up. The ASB is situated in the entrance area to the castle restaurant.

No there is no costume obligation, but many of our visitors take pleasure in dressing up. We do, however, point out that any costume components that could lead to injuries in a crowd may not be brought into the castle grounds for safety reasons.

DOES HALLOWEEN STILL TAKE PLACE IF IT RAINS?

Our monsters are ready for you at any time, come rain or snow! The drinks and food stands are protected against wind and weather. For safety reasons however, the organiser reserves the right to cancel or postpone the festival in the event of severe weather warnings.

Tickets will not be refunded in this case of “force majeure”. However, should a surplus be achieved as a result, it will be paid out to the ticket holders on a pro rata basis.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

We recommend sturdy footwear and waterproof and windproof clothing for the 800-year old cobblestones, stony moat, muddy swamp and harsh easterly wind.
